LEAD Certified, we are fully capable of doing lead removal in addition to our specialties which include masonry work, Residential/Commercial General Exterior Work, Interior Improvement Services and Handyman Services.

Based in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, Johansen General Contracting's humble origins started with its founder, John Johansen, who began working as a construction apprentice at the age of 16. By the age of 18, Mr. Johansen became a union carpenter and worked at the Newport Towers in Jersey City. His services involved building or repairing kitchen cabinets, trims, closets and doors. 

As years passed, Mr. Johansen advanced to sheetrock and metal framing at Dixon Mills. From 1990 to 1997, Mr. Johansen set his focus on giving services which included refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing and home improvement services. Since then, John Johansen founded his company and began accepting General Contracting work, applying both his creativity and professional skills, honed by years of experience.

Today, Johansen General Contracting has grown and is providing General Contracting services in Bergen County, Passaic County, and Hudson County and is planning to expand services in other localities in the near future.
